Come Check Me Out

Hey. I know, I know, you were expecting a picture of David. But I'm hear to tell you there's a NEW cute in town. Granted, I've been here a while, but I figured I'd pop in and show you just how darn cute I am. See? Check me out.

Pictures of the Past 3

In October, we took part in a comedy of errors as a bunch of us went camping. Somehow, with all of us doing boneheaded things, we never actually took pictures of anything (or I lost them). While I do have a cool one on my cell phone, we just received a bunch from Aunt Marianne (Sean, if you have any, please send them!) The only picture I have worth salvaging is our best boneheaded move...leaving the pack and play at home (which explains why everything fit into our tiny Geo Prizm so darn well).

Here's a break-down of our "bed ad-lib"...
North Wall - Wooden Wall
East Wall - Laundry Basket (with padding)
West Wall - Suitcase (also blocking the ladder)
South Wall - Mattress off of bed
Support for South Wall - Gym Bag Strap hooked to Suitcase, bottles of water and soda
Box of Bottles of Water - Acted as a door stop (door is in bottom right corner of picture)

Even more entertaining a thought - the first night, David didn't take too well to it (surprise surprise). So Mommy had to climb in with him, sit with him, then somehow exit the area while David was falling asleep. Pretty impressive stuff she does.

Pictures of the Past 2

David enjoys a good game of tag with none other than Grandma herself.

You know you're in good shape when you can get on all fours, chase your grandchild around, and live to tell about it.

Pictures of the Past 1

Starting a new series, based on the fact that I'm horrendously behind in posting. So check back all week for a new entry.

JIM: Wow! He just took some steps! When did that start?
ROB & HEATHER: Right now.
JIM: ....(speechless)...

That's right. In late September, Uncle Jim and Aunt Cath came to visit the same weekend David took his first unaided steps. Here was the recreated scene (after we all got over the emotional glee of David's milestone). This entire day gave birth to the game where David walks back and forth between parents. Great game.

Later, on the ride home, Uncle Jim called up Grammy and taunted her with his own emotional glee. Grammy rifled back, saying that she would stalk our young son until he had his first kiss, in which she would erupt in joy, call Jim up, and rub it in his face. This, of course, won't happen until college, so you can imagine what a scene this will turn out to be. Pictures will, of course, be provided, giving us about 17 years to teach Grammy how to use a digital camera.

And for those of you keeping track at home, the first sentence in the previous paragraph was true. The rest was pure hogwash.

Bend It Like Justin

This is a soccer ball, huh? I wonder if I can get it in my mouth...

David got his first introduction to soccer from his cousin Justin! Justin is great at soccer, and played just about every position in his team's win. Here are some action shots of the great Justin on the soccer field.

Justin throws in the ball with a manly grunt.

Justin drives through the sea of red players.

Justin drives the ball downfield.

Goalie Justin comes with everything you see here (man on the bench not included).

One of his many saves. This kid is NOT afraid of anything!

Soccer Star Justin searches the field for someone to kick to.

Justin poses for pictures and signs autographs after the game.

Justin lets out his thoughtful pose.

Don't forget about me! I'm still cute!!!

Picture of the Day 10/21

So it's been a while...almost a full month. Let's spin the "excuse" wheel and see what I can come up with.

*spin*

"It was really busy at work."

Anyway, I'm back, with several posts at the ready, so check back often as we get through some older pictures and caught up to current life!

New Video - 13 months!

Yes, it's been a while, and it's been busy. New job, new place, so on and so on. But you, the demanding public, do not care. Fear not. Through Grandma's wonderful digital camera, I present you a new video - David at 13 months.

And hopefully, later this week, I'll spend a few minutes fixing that strange sound-repeating problem. Emphasis on strange.

What? You didn't notice it, you say?

You will now. Oh, yes. You will now.

(villanous laugh tone) Heh heh. Heh Heh heh. Ha Ha Ha. MUA HA HA HA HA (builds to a slow, loud climax) HAAA HAAA HAAAA HAAAA!!!!! (crackle of thunder, flash of lightning, shadow of figure holding a knife on the wall, slam of door, creak of floor, ring of doorbell, arrival of delivery pizza, end of this shameless subtitle)

Year Two Begins with some changes...

Well well well. Year two is just a month done, and have things been happening left and right. We have MANY new thresholds to show you all over the coming week or two. We'll start with one of the first ones...

My boy can feed himself!*

*Note: My son did not learn to feed himself with pizza. We are not that irresponsible. He went through many things before he reached this pinnacle of manhood.

Happy 30th!!!

We take this moment to honor our comrade - the first of Daddy's friends to hit the great milestone known as 30. He is, of course, James, who has been my friend since those crazy school days way back when. James is also part of the reason that David James has that name (the other half being my brother), so on those rare situations when James and David James can get together, it's extremely wonderful and exciting, full of crazy fun times, as you can tell from the pictures below.
At 3 months, David James is already a huge fan of the older James.

Here are the inseparable duo. David is just riveted by the company of the 30 year old.

Can you even imagine what David will be like around James the next time?!?

Happy 30th Jimmy. Most of us will be joining you shortly.

One Year....again

David had yet another one year old present (in the world of the Grandparents, things are meant to be celebrated many more times than the traditional 'once'). This one was from Grammy and Grampy.

Contrary to what it may seem, no fingers were injured in the making of this picture. Several grapes, however, lost their 'fruitful' lives.

It is my pleasure to announce the birth of Samuel! Heather's brother Patrick and wife Kassie brought this wonderful thing in to the world on August 24th, 2007.

This picture is the biggest tease you'll ever get. But you must admit...those are some adorable feet!

But if you want more pictures, you'll have to go to SAMUEL'S WEBSITE! I was able to guest-post on it! So click the picture or CLICK HERE and enjoy!

Happy First Birthday David James

Please join us for a video celebration of the first year of our son's life. If you also have time, please leave a comment for us to have for now, and for David to have later in life.

With that said, we urge you to find a friend, kick back, and enjoy watching the memories of a wonderful year go by. Thanks to all for making this first year so fantastic, so beautiful, and so full of love and life.

UPDATES. CRAZY UPDATES.

I have officially made the move to owning webspace (for a small monthly fee). It is easy to use, and quite cheap, so I am quite happy. I have updated most of the things that were affected by this, but I still have some more to go. So, here are some updates!

  • THE MAIN PICTURE. It's back. Ooooh. Ahhh.

  • SLIDESHOWS. I have gotten rid of the old slideshows off of the main web page, and have given them their very own web page of their own. As new slideshows are put on the main page, old ones will effortlessly slide over to there. You can view this page by clicking the link under the slideshow at the top of the page or by clicking HERE.

  • VIDEO. There is a quick-access box to David's videos, and they play right off of the main page. Very cool addition, thanks to those crazy folks at Blogger.

A .one-year celebration thing ..is coming soon, as is the updates to the Friends of David list.

Leave some comments on your thoughts to the updates, and suggestions on what you'd like to see! And check back, because more will be coming soon!

In the Care of the Family

What? It wasn't me!

The move has finally happened. After an insane week of packing, a 17' U-Haul with a 12'x6' trailer, and bus ride back up, and another 14' U-Haul trailing my little Geo Prizm...

After tons of friends helping us out packing a U-Haul from 6PM until midnight...

After filling up our apartment with crap, and then a 10x15 storage unit with more crap...

We have arrived. And now...the unpacking begins. (sob) (whine) Fortunately, Grampa and Grandma have stepped in to help watch David. Additionally, David has all of these cool people to talk to now that he is closer to his family. Happy day!

Aunt Kassie, Uncle Patrick, and Mommy are entertained by David.
Follow-up question (10pts): Which person above just passed her due date?

So we are thankful to be down here, blessed with tons of help to get us out of our old location and into our new location. Additionally, we have people to watch David, which is a huge help. Unfortunately, not everyone can keep up....

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
with visions of colored rings in Grampa's Head.

Vacation: 1st Birthday

Woo hoo! Not sure what a birthday is, but everyone else seems excited!

David had his first of many birthday parties on vacation (probably his first of many 'first' birthday parties), and seemed to enjoy himself quite a bit! He opened presents, and played with the wrapping paper! His attention span with the wrapping paper lasted about as long as Wow! A bike!

I'm doing all right, getting good grades. The future's so bright....

Well, I WAS going to try to put that light flame thingie in my mouth, but someone had to blow it out...

And while it seems he understands how to demonstrate the number one, we'll be correcting his choice of fingers soon.

And if, by chance you missed a reference to a pop song, you probably did not go through public school in the 80's.
